No, not with George Michael.  We’ve got someone better – ChuLo. Marcelo Manfredi  will teach vals turns and sacadas  Thursday at 8, thereby inducing a dreamy feeling in all.

We’ve also got some dreamy photos (OK, maybe nightmarish) from last week and a few stragglers from prior weeks. Very impressionistic. Or not. Several of them are action photos shot in the dark by our (umm, how shall we say?) sight-challenged photographers. See them here.

Finally, we’re dreaming of our next milonga. It will be Saturday, June 30 at All Saints.

Start practicing with us this Thursday, May 24 at SPC. Until then, sweet dreams to you.

Pablo Mosteiro Romero will be performing at Viva on Thursday May 10 at our May Milonga. Pablo is a composer, a pianist and a singer. This very talented artist is also the creator and host of Death of Tango, a Saturday evening (6-8pm) radio show on WPRB 103.3FM.

Pablo’s tango immersion will be evident when you see him perform. He plays tango on the radio, plays tango on the piano, sings tango, composes tango and even dances tango. You don’t want to miss this.

Join us Thursday at 8 at the Suzanne Patterson Center where you can see at least three, and probably four, of Pablo’s talents on display.

Refreshments will be provided but please feel free to bring a bottle of wine to share.

Admission $15, $7 for students with ID

Throw your weight around with us, tonight at 8 o’clock. Vittoria and Guillermo will teach a turn with a triple weight change. Nobody does it better.

This comes in handy quite a lot, particularly if you’re inclined to vals. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – If a man can get the embrace and the weight changes right, he’s halfway to being every woman’s dream tanguero. Let Vittoria and Guillermo show you how tonight at SPC, 8 pm. Admission $12, $5 for students with ID.

Viva has been unable to obtain any space for a Saturday milonga in May. We’re not letting that stop us, however. Next Thursday, May 10, we’re having our May milonga at SPC. It will be such a special  night you’ll think you’ve already made it to the weekend.

There will be live music by Princeton’s own Pablo Mosteiro Romero, creator and host of The Death of Tango on 103.3 FM. Wait until you hear Pablo sing and play the piano! You can do that while you’re nibbling on Nelly’s scrumptious food, sipping a glass of wine and dancing tango. We think that perfectly completes all the ingredients you need for a heavenly Thursday.

Thanks to all of you who came to our milonga Saturday night. It was a fabulous time. Great live music, great food, great people. When you get Vittoria and Guillermo, Lesley and Kelly, and the two Annas from Philadelphia all on the dance floor at the same time, that’s a critical mass of really, really, really good dancers. It makes a milonga feel like Buenos Aires.

Special thanks to the brilliant Bandoneonist Emmanuel Trifilio, to our pop-up surprise performer, Rebecca Salazar of the glorious voice, and to Lou Becerra of CJDS for teaching a terrific Beginners Lesson. Click below for pictures.

Join us Thursday at 9:15 pm for an exciting lesson with Vittoria and Guillermo on salidas. It’s where you begin, how you get on the dance floor. We’ve straightened out our heads, our calendars and our Popsicle stick collection. Viva is tonight at 9:15 at SPC.

Lesley Mitchell  wraps up her milonga series with a review of the material covered so far. To that she will add some variations and show us how to make sequences of the steps we already know. We told you that you’d be doing a milonga if you stuck with it. There’s just one thing left to do. Boogie on down to SPC tonight and learn how to do a milonga with finesse.

Speaking of finesse, we’ve definitely got some in store for you on Saturday at our Milonga Magnolia. It starts with award winning Bandoneonist, Emmanuel Trifilio, from the legendary Cafe Tortoni in Buenos Aires. 

It includes a Raw Beginners’ Lesson by Lou Becerra of CJDS. And then there’s food by Nelly. You know it’s going to be good. That’s 8 o’clock Saturday at All Saints Church.

Lesley Mitchell is back THURSDAY with a bonus fourth milonga lesson. Review. Catch up. Cram. It’s all still possible. See for yourself. Those pictures aren’t just blurry because our photographer is so bad. They’re blurry because everyone is moving fast. They’re all doing a milonga!

The yoga class which precedes Viva Tango in the winter is taking a break tonight, so we get an extra hour of dancing! Practica starts at 8:00pm at the Suzanne Patterson Center.

Lesley Mitchell  will teach a milonga class at 9:00 and she’ll be back next week for the final installment in our milonga series. That’s two more opportunities to learn how to milonga, people!

If you’ve been paying attention and you attend all four milonga classes, you will posilutely, absotively be doing a milonga before it’s over. If not, Lesley will take you home with her and make you do remedial asanas until you’re enlightened. (That’s your moment of Zen for the day.)

Nine days from now, April 14th, is our Milonga Magnolia at All Saints. We’ll have live music by acclaimed Bandoneonist Emmanuel Trifilio and yes, there will definitely be milonga tandas. if you didn’t have a good reason to learn to milonga before, you’ve got one now.
