Intermediate Argentine Tango 8 week progressive series by Pablo and Iwoan. Thursdays at 7 PM before VivaTango Dec 13, 20, 27, Jan 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31. This course is an independent workshop for anyone who would like to move beyond their basic tango skills. This course teaches transitions from fundamental steps to more complex movements and sequences. No partner is required. Cost is $160. Maurizio Najt, Piano, is a graduate of the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Buenos Aires. He performed with “Amigos del Tango” and Forever Tango Orchestra at venues such as Lincoln Center Plaza, Alice Tully Hall, Winter Garden, and the Argentine Embassy in Washington DC and Tokyo.

Dmitri will play his wonderful tandas and cortinas

Modern music has rap artists, and Tango has Wrap Artists. This week learn about “Sweet and Gentle Wraps”. Wraps are the Kodak moment in a Tango dance. The lesson will teach how to be a wrapper or wrapee. A milonga Djed by Dmitri will follow the lesson. Iwona and Pablo will provide a guided practica after the lesson for those dancers wanting help in mastering the lesson.

Pablo, who is originally from the suburbs of Buenos Aires, has studied tango with various master teachers in his home country and in the United States. Iwona explored a few other forms of dance before taking up tango, which she has studied in depth and practiced locally. Pablo and Iwona teach the Argentine tango classes at Princeton Adult School and they teach regularly at Viva Tango in Princeton, where they are artists in residence.

Princeton Summer Tango Festival

Il Faut Tango Duo

Il Faut Tango Duo are a tango guitar duo from Buenos Aires , Argentina, who dazzle and delight audiences worldwide while seeking to enrich dancers’ musicality in Tango. Their concerts offer a beautiful selection of the most representative Tangos, Waltzes, and Milongas from the 20th century until now. Instrumental and sung songs adapted for all kinds of venues .

Il Faut Tango Duo (Flavio Romanelli & Marcos Martignano) are professional musicians from Buenos Aires, Argentina. They has been sponsored by the National Tango Academy of Argentina and declared “Cultural Interest” by the Ministry of Culture of Argentina. As part of their fifth international tour (second time in USA), they will be presenting songs from their latest album “Avanti”.

Flavio Romanelli

Composer, arranger, guitarist and music teacher. Graduated from the “School of Music of Buenos Aires” (2006), there he joined the Tango Orchestra of that institution. He continued his studies at the “National Academy of Tango” (2009) with the great Maestro Anibal Arias. He was part of the 3rd Campus of Contemporary Guitar, dictated jointly by important teachers as Quique Sinesi and Carlos Moscardini among others. Currently he is studying a degree in Music Composition at the National University of Arts (Argentina). He has toured throughout Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

 

 

Marcos Martignano

Composer, arranger, guitar player. Graduated from the Conservatory of Chascomús (Buenos Aires), he completed studies with Eduardo Pertusi. He continued his studies at the “National Academy of Tango” (2009) with the great Maestro Anibal Arias. He has participated in several seminars and master classes both in Brazil and Uruguay in 2007 and 2008. He studied harmony and composition in SADAIC (Buenos Aires) by Maestro Juan Carlos Cirigliano between 2012 and 2014. In recent years, he has toured throughout the European continent.

 

 

There are two events:

First there is a Workshop on Tango Music. This workshop is held in a secret garden in Princeton. This workshop explains the fundamental parameters of Tango music and gives you the tools to take them to your dance. Strong and weak beat, the variation, endings with rallentandos, are some of the important topics. Junior Cervila. He is an internationally known performer, choreographer and instructor recognized for his creative tango styling and intricate footwork. He learned tango in Buenos Aires principally with the great maestros: Antonio Todaro, Pepito Avellanedo, and Juan Carlos Copes. Junior has performed tango on the most world’s distinguished stages. Junior has been choreographic assistant to tango legend, Juan Carlos Copes, and his performances have been seen worldwide on Argentinian television, on stage (Broadway’s “Tango Argentino”), on tour (most notably with Julio Iglesias) and on screen (“Tango”, nominated for an Academy Award for best foreign film, 1999). Highlights of his career include performing in Tango Argentino (the shows by Segovia and Orezzioli), working with the singer Julio Iglesias, and dancing in the film Tango by Carlos Saura.

Guadalupe Garcia born in Argentina has performed and taught throughout South America, Europe, Asia and North America. 2004-2010 – Godoy’s Tango Company, Juan Corvalán’s Tangomalambo’s Company, and Roberto Herrera’s Company 2005- 2006 – Italy: shows “ Tango Querido” (Barletta), “ Noche porteña” (Matera) and “Patio Argentino” of Tango (Roma). 2007-2008 –Performer in “El Bandoneón” show in Athens. 2011 – Misterio Tango Festival (Argentina). 2009 – 2012- Teaching in Greece, United Kingdom, Poland, France, Italy, Portugal, Dubai, Brazil y Chile. 2012 – Performer in Argentina’s pavilion at the World Expo in Korea. 2014 – Principal Dancer at the show Glorias Porteñas, partnering with Juan Carlos Copes. 2015 – Tango e Paixão’s Show (Brazil). 2007 to present performer in local tango shows in Buenos Aires, such as Complejo Tango, Michelangelo, Taconeando, Piazzolla Tango, Gala Tango and Tango Porteño.

Michael Nadtochi has been a professional dancer for more than two decades. His vast dance experience consists of performing, competing, choreographing and educating dancers and professionals all over the world.  For the past 14 years Michael focused entirely on performing and teaching the art of Argentine Tango. He has traveled the world, took part in major international tango festivals where he taught and performed at some of the most spectacular venues. Germany, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Cyprus, Malaysia, Canada, Scotland are among the countries that he visited as special guests and performing artist. He has taught and performed in the major tango festivals in the USA, and he has been one of the dancers at Malbec & Tango House NYC –  the first authentic nightly Argentine Tango show produced in USA.

Special, Semi-Private, Partners-Only Advanced Series

Pablo and Iwona are offering a special learning opportunity on advanced sequences and musicality. This is a series of four semi-private, partners-only sessions, focusing on high level movements and musical interpretations. The series will start Thursday, May 17 and will take place at Suzanne Patterson Center from 6:45 to 8 pm. The class is limited to six couples, and the cost is $80 per person.
