Time’s a flying

Doesn’t it seem like just a few months ago that we had Papa Hemingway’s birthday  with the flamenco ukulele and the horse song? Well, hard to believe, but here we are again. It’s been a whole year. If our photographer was more diligent we could show you the large line-up of ladies for the birthday dance, but he only managed to capture this one.Karlbday

Speaking about time flying, we’re almost up to Christmas, Hanukkah and the New Year. Mark your calendars now for our Holiday Party Milonga on December 20th, before all your dates are taken.  Then mark them again for our Tango Boot Camp – Beyond the Basics  with Lesley Mitchell on January 5th and 6th.

Most importantly, mark them for this Thursday at 9:15 when ChuLo and Michelle will join us for a lesson and a night of great music.  Admission $12 or $10 for students with ID.

If you’re already stressed out and shopped out, we can help. Viva now has gift certificates available for our Boot Camp and our Holiday Milonga.

It may turn into something

Join us tonight at 9:15 when Marcelo ‘ChuLo’ Manfredi and Michelle Dougherty lead a lesson in dynamic turns and how to get into and out of them. You never know. It might just turn into something like an evening of good fun, good food, good friends.

Don’t turn away yet. We’ve got two more items for you to put on your calendar; Our Holiday Party Milonga on December 20th and our Tango Boot Camp – Beyond the Basics on the weekend of January 5th and 6th.

Now it’s your turn to clear your schedule so you can join us tonight at the Suzanne Patterson Center.

‘Tis the season

If you’ve had that room emptying argument with your brother-in-law and suffered in line at the Black Friday sales, you’re cleared for takeoff. It’s time to have some holiday fun. And we’ve got tango fun planned for you.

First up we have ChuLo and Michelle at 9:15 on Thursday.  Their topic this week is powerful, dynamic turns–how to get into them, get out of them and make it all look effortless.

Next, we have a Holiday Party Milonga on December 20. What if the Mayans were right? What if the world is coming to an end on December 21? There’s only one thing to do: party like there’s no tomorrow! You really can’t miss this one.

And finally, to hedge our bets in case we all make it to the New Year, we’ve got a Tango Boot Camp on the weekend of January 5th and 6th–Beyond The Basics.

See? We’ve thought of everything.

It all takes place at the Suzanne Patterson Center.

Happy Thanksgiving

We give you this bird picture (no, that’s definitely not the same as giving you the bird) to let you know that all the Vivas wish you, your family and all your tango partners a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

We’re closed on Thanksgiving, but we’ll be back next week on November 29. Can’t wait to see you!

The turkeys come home to roost again

We hate to have to do it but Viva will be closed on Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 22.  It’s our contribution to family values. Stay home and prove to your family that you  can refrain from tango for one day. Eat all the pie you can handle. Then come back to us on November 29. We’ll be waiting for you with open arms and a new lesson by ChuLo and Michelle.

Even though our doors are closed, our mouths are still going so there are a few more things we’d like to say:

Email Problems

Several email servers were reset because of Hurricane Sandy and they kicked us right out the door. If you have not been getting our emails, please put princeton.vivatango@gmail.com in your address book. If that doesn’t restore us to the good graces of your email server, let us know.

Student Fees

Effective December 1, 2012, the admission price for students will be $10.

Volunteers

Viva needs volunteers, particularly in the areas of press relations, social media and DJing. No expertise is necessary, just a desire to learn and the willingness to put in a few hours a week. (OK, for the sake of truth in advertising, DJing requires five times that commitment but it’s also the most rewarding job.) If you think you might be interested in becoming a press czar, a Facebook maven or a DJ, please speak to one of the Vivas.

Holiday Party

Our Holiday Party Milonga will be Thursday, December 20. We had a great time last year and plan to have even more fun at this year’s party, but we can’t do it without you, so please mark your calendars now.

It’s Thursday – It’s Viva Tango @ SPC

Life after Sandy is slowly getting to a normal pace, we all deserve a Tango break.

Vittoria and Guillermo will continue to teach some of their favorite milonguero moves, learned on their recent trip to Buenos Aires from the last of the Golden Age milongueros. This is a part of tango’s history and romance you don’t want to miss.

Join us tonight at 9:15 at SPC for an evening of good fun, good humor, good food, good tango.

We’d like to announce a great lesson by Vittoria and Guillermo at Viva Tango Thursday night.  But we can’t do that just yet.  The Suzanne Patterson Center still has no heat and no light. (We hope none of you are in that same boat.)

We expect everything at SPC will be fully restored by Thursday.  So please pencil us in for 9:15 Thursday evening and look for our confirmation email later in the week.

Viva Tango cancelled Thursday

Alas, there will be no Halloween Party for us.  We have to cancel because the Suzanne Patterson Center has no heat and no light.

We hope you are all snugly in your homes, safe and sound.

If you need a tango fix (and who doesn’t?) we can recommend three places that have fared better than Princeton in the storm:

Vittoria and Guillermo have a Halloween Milonga tonight in Marlton, NJ.  See http://www.argen-tango.com/?page_id=50 for more information.

Meredith Klein has a milonga Thursday night in Philadelphia.  See http://philadelphiatangoschool.com/milonga.html for information.

Lesley and Kelly have a Masquerade Milonga with a class Friday night in Philadelphia. See http://philadelphiatangoschool.com/milonga.html for information.

See you all next week.
