When Michael & Eleonora met, they both realized that each one of them had a tattoo of a black panther… Perhaps this was a coincidence, but they believe that it was rather a sign of fate! Shortly after they decided to continue this exciting journey through life and dance together, forming a dance partnership based on respect for one another artistic views and desire to take Argentine Tango to a whole new level: exploring possibilities of fusing the most traditional form of this beautiful dance – tango being a social dance based on musicality & elegance with a more flexible and modern approach of a performing artist using the body as an instrument that is not limited to one particular style of movement or discipline. Come see their performance.

Pablo Garcia Gomez and Iwona Ionescu will be teaching a short lesson followed by a guided practica where you can polish the lesson’s steps or learn how to embellish the lesson steps.
Milonga with music by Sorawis Peace Sangtawesin. Peace is a recent PhD from Princeton, tango dancer and popular DJ. Dance to the passionate sounds of classical tango.

Come and say farewell and thank you to Dennis Matthies who will be departing to Florida for the winter!!! Viva Tango expresses deep gratitude and appreciation to Dennis. Dennis is the heart and the steam engine of the Viva Tango events. He is incessantly working on bringing the best teachers and performers to the Viva Tango circle, organizing logistics  and negotiating prices, dates, schedules and doing it purely from the love of the dance and the community. A main goal of Viva Tango Inc. is to support Argentine Tango artists. In lieu of that we call you, our patrons, to help in a special opportunity came our way via Vittoria and Guillermo, to host a World Champion and wife; Sebastian Jimenez & Joana, one week of accommodations and meals, plus privates booked by the host or Viva, whichever is easier. Vittoria & Guillermo will help promote them and the privates. Sebastian and Joana would perform at Viva, either on July 7 or 14. More details will follow.

BEGINNERS CLASSES – Two excellent beginners series will start up shortly. Here are the details:

  1. Pablo and Iwona will teach Argentine Tango Basics on Tuesdays 7:30 to 9:00 PM, beginning October 6th. Location is the Suzanne Paterson Building. The link to register will be  http://www.princetonadultschool.org/registration has just begun. The class will have only 20 opening, so if you want to be assured of being in this class register soon.  The classes will teach the fundamentals of Argentine tango the way it is danced socially in Argentina and around the world.  Students will also explore the history of tango and its various musical forms.  No partner or previous dance experience required.  Students should bring comfortable shoes to class.
  2. Robin Thomas and assistant will teach a beginners series on Monday nights at the Princeton University’s Princeton Tango Club. Details will be published shortly.  Web page link is www.princeton.edu/~tango/
