Join us this Thursday, October 29th, for an unforgettable Halloween-themed milonga featuring world-class live tango music! We are thrilled to host two phenomenal virtuosos: Tito Castro, a living legend on the bandoneón, and Maurizio Najt, pianist for the Forever Tango Orchestra. Together, they will bring intoxicating live music to our floor, with Phoebe Choi spinning irresistible sets all night long in between.

Mark Your Calendar – Thursday, November 5th: The delightful Helen Wang will be your host! She’ll be kicking off the night with a lesson alongside partner Jan Ben, followed by a fantastic evening with Helen DJing for the milonga.

Thursday, October 29. A duo of extraordinary musicians will play for your dancing pleasure. Maurizio Najt is a well-known regular at Viva Tango and many other events. He played a leading role in the New York Tango revival scene during the late 90’s, performing with New York Tango Trio. He also was a member of Forever Tango Orchestra.

Tito Castro is a bandoneón maestro, a living legend as a composer, arranger and performer, who’s been playing his instrument for six decades, since the age of 15. He was born and raised in Buenos Aires. Tito has played at milongas of Buenos Aires during the Golden Age of Tango.

Phoebe Choi often DJs at the Princeton Tango Club events. She will keep us dancing before, between, and after the live music sets.

7:00 pm: – Milonga begins with DJ Phoebe Choi.
8:30 pm: – First music set with Maurizio and Tito.

Admission: $20.

Thursday, November 5th. Helen Wang & Jan Ben will teach a lesson and host the milonga. Helen is a very popular professional tango instructor and performer. Helen’s teaching brings together the music, passion, elegance, natural embrace, freedom of movement and expression of the dance.

Her partner Jan Ben, is an accomplished tango dancer and will assist Hellen with the lesson. Helen Wang is also an excellent DJ and will delight us with her music selections all evening, following the lesson.

7:00 pm: Lesson with Helen & Jan. Theme: practical skills and steps for small spaces.
8:15 pm: Milonga with DJ Helen Wang.

Admission: $20.

TABLES
We’ve added tables to our seating area to make meeting fellow dancers easy and inviting! Spot an empty chair? Simply ask those sitting nearby if it’s open and make it your base for the night. You are welcome to bring a beverage of your choice to enjoy (no hard liquor allowed).

MILONGA DIRECTIONS
VivaTango is located at 45 Stockton Street, Princeton New Jersey. There is a well-lit, off-street parking lot at the venue. The large dance floor is in the smaller of the two buildings. The venue is easily accessed by rail from NYC and Philly. Just get a ticket to Princeton (not Princeton Junction. You get off the train at Princeton Junction and take the connecting shuttle train to Princeton.) The venue is 8 blocks from the Princeton Train Station with a lovely walk through the Princeton University Campus (0.8 mi.) Princeton is a dining center in NJ – consider having dinner before Tango. MAP

WATER
We urge dancers to bring their water bottle from home to cut down on single use bottles. There is a chilled water fountain and a cold/hot water dispenser that you can use to refill your water bottle or get a drink to keep you hydrated.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE THESE EVENTS HAPPEN
Every event has a pre-party hosted by Jon where the chairs and lights are put in place. And there is an after party hosted by Warren where everything is put away again. and an after-party. Sylvie needs a few additional volunteers for these parties. It does not have to be every week, Sylvie can make it fit your schedule. Party members get free admission.
Contact Sylvie (sylvie.brien.vo@gmail.com) if you can help. Thanks!
