Danelle Knapp will DJ between the music sessions. Also, ladies, you are up for a treat. Jacklyn Shapiro an avid Ballroom and Tango dancer and a Viva patron, will present her own hand-made clothing line design: Adorno Dancewear see details below (**).

Emilio Teubal – Piano
Argentinean, born in Spain, has lived for more than a decade in NYC where he earned a BFA in jazz performance from the City College of New York graduating Magna Cum Laude. He has also been awarded with the prestigious Meet The Composer’s Van Lier Fellowship 2007. He has performed in some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in NYC such us Iridium, Blue Note, Birdland, le Poisson Rouge, Sweet Rhythm, Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club, Joes Pub, Cornelia Street Cafe, 55 Bar and The Knitting Factory among others. His credits as a Jazz and Tango Pianist include performances and recordings with artists like the Grammy award winners Raul Jaurena and Fernando Otero, Erik Friedlander, Hector del Curto, Bob Mover, John Benitez, Lucia Pulido, Pedro Giraudo, Lisandro Adrover, Miguel Bertero, and a performance with Astor Piazolla’s legendary violinist Fernando Suarez Paz at the Lincol Center.Emilio has also been a steady member of different New York based music groups like Sebastian Cruz’s Coba, and Los Chantas Tango Group, and the Marta Gomez Group, with whom he has toured the USA, Mexico, Spain and Argentina.www.emilioteubal.comAriel Iud – Bandoneon
Argentinean musician Ariel Iud started studying bandoneon in 1997 and has been playing both contemporary and traditional tango in Europe, Asia and North and South America. He has studied with renowned bandoneon players such as Horacio Romo, Carlos Corrales and Nestor Marconi and has perused studies in composition and music theory with Eduardo Criscuolo.Until 2007, Ariel played with several tango orchestras and tango groups in Buenos Aires, including Orquesta Típica La Furca and Cuarteto Bien Frappe with whom he made a tour throughout Europe in 2007. Between 2008 and 2011, Ariel lived and worked in Bogota, Colombia. During this time he played and recorded with many well-known Colombian musicians including Humberto Pernett and Anibal Dos Santos from the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra. He also directed and led the tango group at the popular tangueria Bogotango Show and Dinner. Between 2011 and 2013, Ariel worked in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under the sponsorship of Jumeirah International where he performed at the award-winning five star Latin restaurant la Parrilla.(**) Jacklyn Shapiro: Adorno Dancewear.

Viva Tango Inc. welcomes Richard Council (via Vittoria and Guillermo of Argen Tango) is back on Thursday, December 5th. Richard is a fantastic teacher and an accomplished dancer and we are excited for his return. Please join us for this Tango treat. 8-9 PM Intermediate Lesson 9-11:30 Practica Food, socializing, no partner necessary, $12. At Suzanne Paterson Center.

Richard Council

Richard taught and performed on stage and television throughout the United States and abroad. In 2003 he, with his former partner Colette Hebert, won the US IDO Argentine Tango Championships in Miami, Florida. They were finalists in the Tango Salon division and semi-finalists in the Stage Performance division of the World Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2005. This week his intermediate lesson at 8:30pm will focus on Axis, Rotation and Transition. In this class we will explore an option for changing direction and using this change to accent transitions into other movements for both roles.

Maurizio Najt, piano

Graduated from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Buenos Aires, Mr. Najt played an important role as a tango pianist in the New York tango scene, performing with “Amigos del Tango”, and the “New York Tango Trio” with whom he performed at Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires in 2002 for the Festival de Música Internacional. In 2006, he played keyboards for the Forever Tango Orchestra (Luis Bravo’s Tony winning production) under the direction of legendary bandoneonist Víctor Lavallén; touring the US, Mexico, Japan and China. Maurizio has performed at numerous venues including Lincoln Center Plaza, Alice Tully Hall, Winter Garden, El Museo del Barrio in NYC, and the Argentine Embassy in DC and Tokyo. From 2004 to 2008, he toured Japan, Korea and Hawaii with Japanese tango diva Anna Saeki. He composed the soundtrack for various independent film productions and documentaries, and for the acclaimed off-Broadway musical theater “Don Quixote” which was nominated for an “ACE” award as well as composed and recorded the original music for “A Tango for Tita” a children’s tango musical. dMr. Najt is the Ballet Pianist for the Astoria Fine Arts Center and the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. Recently, during the summer of 2013, he performed with the Forever Tango Show at the Kerr Theatre on Broadway.

WENDY ZOFFER, FLUTE

Originally from Montreal, Wendy is a versatile flautist and vocalist. She is often featured at Grounds for Sculpture and Princeton University Events, The Governor’s Mansion, and numerous hotels, clubs, and venues in the New Jersey/New York/Philadelphia metropolitan areas. Ms. Zoffer is also lucky to have worked with notable jazz musicians such as Richie Cole, Glen McClelland (Ween/Blood, Sweat & Tears), Gerry Hemingway, Gary Oleyar (Loggins & Messina) and Gary Mazzaroppi. She is featured as a vocalist and flautist with Z Jazz Group which is available for bookings everywhere. Her CD, Bird of Beauty, includes jazz standards, blues, sambas, and swing. Wendy’s Children’s CD Sing Me a Day, includes her singing 12 of her original folk songs for young children. Both CDs are for sale at the Princeton Record Exchange and online at Amazon and CDbaby.com. As the Founder/Director of the respected company, Princeton Music Connection, Wendy books the best live bands, DJs, classical, and jazz, for weddings, parties, and corporate events in the New York Metropolitan Area and nationally. Ms. Zoffer is honored and excited about playing with Prince Tango since dancing Tango is one of her favorite passions.

PABLO ANDRADE, VOCALS/GUITAR

Was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has been living in Princeton for 10 years. He began playing the piano at age thirteen in Argentina, but only got interested in tango after moving to Princeton. Mr. Andrade formed a tango band with his brother Martin named Payo Kundsen y sus Malevos, which dissolved with Martin’s move to Switzerland in 2010. Since then, Pablo has played tango and other Latin American styles as a solo act at milongas, cultural events, and cafes. This is Pablo’s third time performing at Viva Tango, where he has always been given a warm welcome. Pablo is also the host of WPRB’s The Death of Tango, which airs Wednesdays 11 AM-1 PM.
