Thursday February 16^th Milonga will feature Guest Tango Team of Gabriel Gaumond & Catrinel Iftode who will teach and perform. This couple, based in Washington DC, has a dance style that has been characterized as romantic. Gabriel’s is known for his teaching of musical interpretation using the body as a medium for expression, and the mechanics of connection. Ca Ti seeks to help dancers feel confident, empowered and comfortable in their dance. They will teach an all-levels lesson starting at 7:00, the Milonga starts at 8:15 and the performance at 9:30. Thursday February 23^rd Milonga with Live Music by Maurizio Najt and Malisa Atoyan. The milonga will be preceded by dancing with the great Tango orchestras presented by Doctora Margarita aka Meg Farrell. Meg will bring the great Tango orchestras to our dance floor via video and share interesting back stories about them and then you will dance to their original music. Don’t miss this unique experience. Meg will also DJ between live music sets during the milonga. Cost $20. Doors open at 7 PM. Tango to the great orchestras from 7:00 to 8:15.  Milonga with live music begins at 8:15.

Welcome to 2023. Our dance floor was refinished at the start of 2023 and we are pleased that the stickiness is gone. That is a good omen for the New Year. We have interesting events planned for 2023 including outstanding guest instructors, performers and musicians for your dancing pleasure. This week will feature the incredible Carla Marano.

January 19^th Special guest Carla Marano. will host the milonga and teach a lesson. Carla is an instructor in some of the best Tango schools in Buenos Aires and is visiting the United States. She helped transform tango from a popular dance into a highly-sophisticated, deeply-understood art form through many years of penetrating investigation into its movement techniques, technical language and musical interpretation. Carla will teach an all-levels lesson on Technique, Structure, Synchronization and Embrace Functionality applied to Turns with Sacadas of the Leader and Boleo of the Follower. Carla has been a guest instructor in many major international Tango festivals. Kerry Kay will DJ the milonga following the lesson. SIX-WEEK ARGENTINE TANGO BASICS CLASS TO START TUESDAY FEBRUARY 21

This series will be taught by Pablo Garcia Gomez and Iwona Ionescu on Tuesdays on the same dance floor used for VivaTango Thursday events. In this course, participants will learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango, the way it is danced, and its social significance in Argentina and around the world. Happy Holidays. from VivaTango. Below is a group photo from the Holiday Milonga. Seventy-one dancers enjoyed the Holiday Milonga. We know that the weather kept many more of you and some of our special guests from attending. If you were one of those, we missed you and have planned a mid-winter milonga on February 23^rd to celebrate again with hopefully better weather. Special guests who were able to attend included: Guillermo Elkouss and Vittoria Natale who taught at VivaTango for many years at our beginning 11 years ago; Mariana Fresno and Husband Thomas (Tom) who are instructors with an outstanding resumes of  experience teaching and performing in tango shows and movies and who are now living in the Princeton area; and Jackie Ericson Phan and husband Sean Ericson who were married this past summer and moved to Princeton area and are now the instructors for the Princeton Tango Club. We were also pleased to have several of the students from the Princeton Tango Club join the celebration as our special guests.

The Holiday Party was the last VivaTango event for 2022. No event is planned for December Thursdays 22 or 29. We kick off 2023 on January 5^th. See details below.

Thursday November 17^th Introducing the lovely and athletic Michelle Lamb, Tango and Gyrotonic Insturctor. Michelle and Andres will teach a tango lesson and perform. Michelle Lamb’s dance experience has been broad and eclectic including touring with famous musical artists such as Liza Minelli, appearing in prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall in London and off-Broadway theaters in New York City and assisting in the choreography of the Miss Universe Pageant. Michelle has toured the world extensively to teach and perform Argentine Tango and has performed onstage with Orquesta Color Tango. Andres Amarilla; Tango instructor, performer and choreographer, studied with and performed in the dance companies of three of the greatest tangueros of all time: Gustavo Naveira, Juan Carlos Copes, and Rodolfo Dinzel – all by the age of 12. He has taught in more than 70 cities worldwide. In 2008, Andres and his dance partner, Meredith Klein, founded the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School.
