Maurizio Najt, piano-Graduated from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Buenos Aires, Mr. Najt played an important role as a tango pianist in the New York tango scene, performing with “Amigos del Tango”, and the “New York Tango Trio” with whom he performed at Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires in 2002 for the Festival de Música Internacional. In 2006, he played keyboards for the Forever Tango Orchestra (Luis Bravo’s Tony winning production) under the direction of legendary bandoneonist Víctor Lavallén; touring the US, Mexico, Japan and China. Maurizio has performed at numerous venues including Lincoln Center Plaza, Alice Tully Hall, Winter Garden, El Museo del Barrio in NYC, and the Argentine Embassy in DC and Tokyo. From 2004 to 2008, he toured Japan, Korea and Hawaii with Japanese tango diva Anna Saeki. He composed the soundtrack for various independent film productions and documentaries, and for the acclaimed off-Broadway musical theater “Don Quixote” which was nominated for an “ACE” award as well as composed and recorded the original music for “A Tango for Tita” a children’s tango musical. dMr. Najt is the Ballet Pianist for the Astoria Fine Arts Center and the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. Recently, during the summer of 2013, he performed with the Forever Tango Show at the Kerr Theatre on Broadway.
Wendy Zoffer, flute-Originally from Montreal, Wendy is a versatile flautist and vocalist. She is often featured at Grounds for Sculpture and Princeton University Events, The Governor’s Mansion, and numerous hotels, clubs, and venues in the New Jersey/New York/Philadelphia metropolitan areas. Ms. Zoffer is also lucky to have worked with notable jazz musicians such as Richie Cole, Glen McClelland (Ween/Blood, Sweat & Tears), Gerry Hemingway, Gary Oleyar (Loggins & Messina) and Gary Mazzaroppi. She is featured as a vocalist and flautist with Z Jazz Group which is available for bookings everywhere. Her CD, Bird of Beauty, includes jazz standards, blues, sambas, and swing. Wendy’s Children’s CD Sing Me a Day, includes her singing 12 of her original folk songs for young children. Both CDs are for sale at the Princeton Record Exchange and online at Amazon and CDbaby.com. As the Founder/Director of the respected company, Princeton Music Connection, Wendy books the best live bands, DJs, classical, and jazz, for weddings, parties, and corporate events in the New York Metropolitan Area and nationally. Ms. Zoffer is honored and excited about playing with Prince Tango since dancing Tango is one of her favorite passions.

Bio: Richard Council began dancing tango in 2001 and has since taught and performed on stage and television throughout the United States and abroad. In 2003 he, with partner Colette Hebert, won the US IDO Argentine Tango Championships in Miami, Florida. They were finalists in the Tango Salon division and semi-finalists in the Stage Performance division of the World Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2005. He has been an invited performer on the Susana Gimenez Show in Argentina, the Tango Libertad Festival in Japan and many milongas and theaters in those countries as well as all over the United States. He has taught and performed at the Portland Tango festivals a number of times. In addition to performing with Hebert in the short film “The Heart of Tango” he has also had the pleasure to share the stage with company members of Tango X 2, Forever Tango, Tango Fire, Tango Argentino and more.

Richard’s reputation as a tango dancer and educator has begun to spread to more and more cities around the United States. He makes every effort to break concepts down into a manageable yet sophisticated vocabulary encouraging others to dance to their fullest potential and with their own voice. He is appreciated for his elegant approach to tango and the clear and precise methodology of his teaching. Richard continues to sharpen his skills as a dancer and teacher so that he might educate others in the rich language that is Argentine Tango.

Pablo & Iwona came with a great idea which we would like to implement.
After the class a Guided Practica Space will be designated without interfering with the practica, to clarify and help mastering the class material for those who feel they need it.

8:45-9:30 Intermediate class will focus on mastering the recently
taught techniques and integrating them into the flow
of the tango.

Vittoria and Guillermo continued their intensive tnago training in BsAs during the month of may. They danced just about every day, and participated in the tango competition of the city of BsAs. They made it to the semifinals in the Milonga category. This week Vittoria and Guillermo will teach tango fundamentals in the all levels class, and a traditional turn to the left done to rhythmical music will be taught at the intermediate class.

Antón Gazenbeek, together with Jody Person return again this week to teach Tango Vals in the Criollo sytle. Their vals lesson last week was praised by the 40+ dancers who participated in the lesson. Tango Vals is one of their specialities for which they have a worldwide reputation. The lesson was followed by the Practica which had 60+ dancers who were dancing the entire evening. We all are looking forward to this week’s lesson and practica. The Viva Tango classes this Thursday will focus on the fundamental concepts, the structural secrets and musicality of Tango Vals. Some of the 40+ Dancers at Vals Lesson

If you were not at Viva Tango this past Thursday you missed a fantastic lesson. Antón Gazenbeek, together with Jody Person taught Tango Vals in the Criollo sytle to the 40+ dancers who came for the lesson.This is one of their specialities for which they have a worldwide reputation. The lesson was followed by the Practica which had 60+ dancers who were dancing the entire evening. The food and beverage tables had the lots of healthy choices including Kerry’s homemade pasta. The sweets included Joanne’s homemade a cake and brownies.

The Vals Criollo masters will return this coming Thursday, May 22 to teach additional Vals Criollo skills and steps. At the conclusion of this week’s lesson Anton and Jody will do a performance of Tango Vals. The photo above shows some of the 40+ dancers who participated in the lessons. Vals Criollo, the Argentine form of tango vals, is a beautiful, fun and joyous dance. Vals Criollo, the Argentine form of tango vals, is a beautiful, fun and joyous dance. Antón has developed a two week course especially for the Viva Tango students to master the fundamental concepts, the structural secrets and musicality of vals.
