Cyrena Drusine Bio:
A native New Yorker and former ballet dancer began dancing tango in Buenos Aires in 2006 and has lived there for the past 7 years. While there, she performed in some of the most important tango shows in Buenos Aires such as Tango Porteño, La Esquina de Carlos Gardel and El Querandi. She also toured Europe with the internationally renowned tango show, Tango Passion. In 2007 she won the first US Tango Championship in tango salon. Please see her blog for more information:

Piano,
is a graduate of the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Buenos Aires. He played an important role as a tango pianist in the New York tango scene, performing with “Amigos del Tango”, and the New York Tango Trio; Forever Tango Orchestra (Luis Bravo’s Tony winning production); Lincoln Center Plaza, Alice Tully Hall, Winter Garden, El Museo del Barrio in NYC, as well as the Argentine Embassy in DC and Tokyo. He composed the soundtrack for the acclaimed off-Broadway musical, “Don Quixote” which was nominated for an “ACE” award and the original music for “A Tango for Tita”. Mr. Najt is the Ballet Pianist for the Astoria Fine Arts Center and the Frank Sinatra School. He performed in 2013 with the Forever Tango Show on Broadway.

Flute, is originally from Montreal, and performs frequently at Grounds for Sculpture, Princeton University Events, The Governor’s Mansion, and numerous hotels, and clubs, in the New Jersey/New York/Philadelphia metropolitan areas. Ms. Zoffer has worked with notable jazz musicians such as Richie Cole, Gerry Hemingway, and Gary Mazzaroppi. She recently performed Tango with Maurizio Najt at Why Not Café on Orchard Street (Manhattan). As the Founder/Director of the respected company, Princeton Music Connection, she books the best live bands, DJs, classical, jazz and tango for weddings, parties, and corporate events in the New York Metropolitan Area and nationally. Her CD, Bird of Beauty, jazz standards, Latin, and swing, and Children’s CD Sing Me a Day are available at The Princeton Record Exchange.

, A longtime professional musician, He initially studied with the great bassist/ composer/ arranger, Pablo Aslan. John DeCesare has performed Argentine Tango at many milongas, concerts and cultural events in and around the tristate area. John has performed with many tango contemporaries on the scene now like Hector del Curto, Fernando Otero and Tito Castro. In early January John, along with producer Meg Farrell, began his own milonga in New York City. Longtime New York City musician, John performs a myriad of styles on bass, guitar, keyboard and vocals; he fell in love with Argentine tango when he first saw “Forever Tango” in New York.

With the support of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation in 2002, he was named the Musical Director of Piazzolla’s “operita” Maria de Buenos Aires, which was performed in Mendoza. While still a teenager, he joined the Orquesta Tipica Mancifesta and later, played with Tango & Punto, an ensemble from Mendoza. In 2004, he joined the Bandó quintet and then toured the U.S. performing in New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Rodolfo recently performed at the Kennedy Center and in 2013, with PASO and Maria Volonte at the Embassy of Argentina for the Organization of American States celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Recovery of Democracy in the Republic of Argentina.

Maurizio Najt, piano, is a graduate of the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Buenos Aires. He played an important role as a tango pianist in the New York tango scene, performing with “Amigos del Tango”, and the New York Tango Trio; Forever Tango Orchestra (Luis Bravo’s Tony winning production); Lincoln Center Plaza, Alice Tully Hall, Winter Garden, El Museo del Barrio in NYC, as well as the Argentine Embassy in DC and Tokyo. He composed the soundtrack for the acclaimed off-Broadway musical, “Don Quixote” which was nominated for an “ACE” award and the original music for “A Tango for Tita”. Mr. Najt is the Ballet Pianist for the Astoria Fine Arts Center and the Frank Sinatra School. He performed in 2013 with the Forever Tango Show on Broadway.

Rodolfo Zanetti, bandoneon, is from Mendoza, Argentina and studied bandoneón with Jorge Puebla and Alberto Hilario Iribarne, and piano with Monica Rizzo and Roberto Urbay at the National University of Cuyo in Mendoza. With the support of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation in 2002, he was named the Musical Director of Piazzolla’s “operita” Maria de Buenos Aires, which was performed in Mendoza. While still a teenager, he joined the Orquesta Tipica Mancifesta and later, played with Tango & Punto, an ensemble from Mendoza. In 2004, he joined the Bandó quintet and then toured the U.S. performing in New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Rodolfo recently performed at the Kennedy Center and in 2013, with PASO and Maria Volonte at the Embassy of Argentina for the Organization of American States celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Recovery of Democracy in the Republic of Argentina.

Wendy Zoffer, flute, is originally from Montreal, and performs frequently at Grounds for Sculpture, Princeton University Events, The Governor’s Mansion, and numerous hotels, and clubs, in the New Jersey/New York/Philadelphia metropolitan areas. Ms. Zoffer has worked with notable jazz musicians such as Richie Cole, Gerry Hemingway, and Gary Mazzaroppi. She recently performed Tango with Maurizio Najt at Why Not Café on Orchard Street (Manhattan). As the Founder/Director of the respected company, Princeton Music Connection, she books the best live bands, DJs, classical, jazz and tango for weddings, parties, and corporate events in the New York Metropolitan Area and nationally. Her CD, Bird of Beauty, jazz standards, Latin, and swing, and Children’s CD Sing Me a Day are available at The Princeton Record Exchange.

After introducing the basics of Bicicletas & working on transitions between close embrace and open embrace, Antón & Jody will delve deeper into their exploration of Bicicletas: their origin and history will be discussed and their many variations will be taught. Don’t miss this fun & informative class! After, Antón DJs with some rare, new music from Buenos Aires.

8:00 PM – All level class (beginners are welcome): Bicicletas Fundamentals
8:45 Intermediate class: : Bicicletas (the bicycle embellishment)
9:45 – 11:45 – Practica, Food, Socializing in cozy club atmosphere.

HOLD THE DATE THURSDAY AUGUST 21ST. VivaTango will be having a MILONGA PARTY WITH LIVE MUSIC. Party master Michael is working on the details to make this the best place to Tango that day in the tri state area. Non-dancers are also invited to come and enjoy the live music and watch the tango dancing.
