Thursday, August 21st. Meredith Klein and Andres Amarilla are frequent instructors and performers (together or individually) at Viva Tango. Meredith is the founder of Philadelphia Argentine Tango School (PATS). She is a popular instructor, performer and the organizer of the annual Philadelphia Tango Festival. Andres was born and raised in Buenos Aires. He studied with and performed in the dance companies of three of the greatest tangueros of all time: Gustavo Naveira, Juan Carlos Copes, and Rodolfo Dinzel. Ignacio will be the milonga DJ.
7:00 pm: All levels lesson with Meredith and Andres.
8:15 pm: Milonga with DJ Ignacio Ondartz.
9:30 pm: Performance by Meredith and Andres.

Thursday, August 28. A duo of extraordinary musicians will play for your dancing pleasure. Maurizio Najt is a well-known regular at Viva Tango and at many other events. He played a leading role in the New York Tango revival scene during the late 90’s, performing with New York Tango Trio. He also was a member of Forever Tango Orchestra. Tito Castro is a bandoneón maestro, a living legend as a composer, arranger and performer, who’s been playing his instrument for six decades, since the age of 15. He was born and raised in Buenos Aires. Tito played milongas of Buenos Aires during the Golden Age of Tango. DJ DimOn will keep you dancing before, between, and after the live music sets.

8:30 pm: – First live music set with Maurizio and Tito.

His focus on classic tango de salon emphasizes realistic social style, the beauty of an elaborate dance, and a lyrical musicality that reaches from basic rhythm to beyond. Jake often uses a series format, exploring related moves to encourage his students’ versatility, and reviewing often to strengthen their retention. Known for his lucid explanations and practical advice, he views himself as a steppingstone to success in the milonga for his students. Jake’s recent series topics include “Elegant Tango Salon,” “Creativity in Tango,” “General Musicality,” “The Fleur-de-Lis,” and “Social Sacadas.”

Thursday, August 7th. Iakof Shonsky – Argentine tango maestro, founder of New York Tango Academy where he gives lessons on individual technique, couples technique, beginner and advanced lessons. These lessons take place at Kings Dance Studio in Brooklyn. He is a very popular instructor in New York and is often invited to teach at various milongas and tango festivals. Iakof is the organizer of La Bohema milonga which runs every first Friday. He comes from the Republic of Georgia where dance is integral part of national culture. Iakof is also an experienced tango DJ and will delight us with his well-crafted music selections tonight.

To all of you who live in NYC. You know that the NY Tango scene is NYC. The NJ Tango scene is Princeton on Thursday nights. Our dance floor is an easy train ride for NYC followed by a short, beautiful walk through the Princeton campus. Princeton draws almost 2 million visitors because of its beauty, culture and dining. Come enjoy a summer night in Princeton and make your milonga a mini vacation.

We had a great turnout for last Thursday’s milonga. A very successful lesson and wonderful tandas from the guest DJ. This Thursday July 17, we will have all that plus a performance. Meredith Klein and Andres Amarilla will teach and perform, and Ignacio Ondartz will DJ.

July 24 will feature live music by Emiliano Messiez and DJ DimOn. This is a repeat of a very popular milonga held last year. Don’t miss this event. With a very versatile and personal sound, he is the founder and director of the Orchestra Típica Messiez, a 10-piece tango orchestra. He has performed all around the world in venues such as The Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Museum of New York and The Houston Opera Theater, among others. Emiliano has written original music and recorded multiple albums that showcase his unique artistic vision. DimOn will be milonga DJ and will play his upbeat tandas to compliment the live music sets.

This Thursday marks the beginning of summer and the second half of 2025. On Thursday July 10th our milonga will feature DJ Gerardo Razumney who grew up listening to tango in his native Buenos Aires. Gerardo likes tango from all the decades, not just the Golden Era, but also la Guardia Vieja of the late 20’s and 30’s, as well as the more modern creations from the 50’s, 60’s and contemporary tangos. Come dance to his selections of music. Pablo and Iwona will teach an all-levels lesson to start off the event at 7 PM. Pablo and Iwona will also be available after the lesson at the start of the milonga to work one-on-one with dancers who would like additional help with the lesson.

Summer arrived during last Thursday’s event. Summer brought several wonderful new dancers visiting VivaTango on their vacation. They were from Montreal, Maimi and other cities. There are always interesting persons to talk with and dance with. That was part of the Magic that Happens Every Thursday at VivaTango. Helen and Thomas will bring some of the Magic this coming Thursday.

This Thursday, June 26^th Helen Wang and Thomas Archambault will host the milonga. Their teaching is always well done, and they will be around to dance with you during the milonga. Helen’s DJing has been highly praised.

DON’T miss this event because there is no event on the following Thursday – July 3^rd. Enjoy our Fourth of July Independence Day Holliday. Save traveling for those of you traveling on this holiday, and Happy Dancing.

Helen’s teaching brings together the music, passion, elegance, natural embrace, freedom of movement and expression of the dance. Her partner, James Archambault, is an accomplished tango instructor and dancer. Together, through dance they create magic. Helen Wang is also an excellent DJ. She will keep you dancing all evening after the lesson.

Thursday, July 10th. Pablo Garcia Gomez and Iwona Ionescu are very popular instructors at Viva Tango and other tango events. After the lesson Pablo and Iwona will be available at the side of the dance floor to help any dancers wishing more assistance with the lesson. Tonight’s DJ Gerardo Razumney grew up listening to tango in his native Buenos Aires. Although his generation was mostly dancing rock and roll, the essence of tango became a part of him. Gerardo likes tango from all the decades, not just the Golden Era, but also la Guardia Vieja of the late 20’s and 30’s, as well as the more modern creations from the 50’s, 60’s and contemporary ones.

We urge dancers to bring their water bottle from home to cut down on single use bottles. There is a chilled water fountain and a cold/hot water dispenser that you can use to refill your water bottle or get a drink to keep you hydrated.

Magic happens every Thursday at VivaTngo. The magic last Thursday was a surprise performance by DJ Rainier Pereira and his dance partner Sonya Tsekanovsky. Their performance was amazing, and the musicality was phenomenal. Those who were present will want to see it again, and those of you who were not present will want to see what you missed – VIDEO of course the DJing and lesson by Pablo and Iwona were also great.

Meredith is a frequent teacher and performer at Viva and is well known in our community. She is the founder of Philadelphia Argentine Tango School (PATS). She is a popular instructor, performer and the organizer of the annual Philadelphia Tango Festival. Ignacio will be the milonga DJ and play his very best music for you to dance to.

7:00 pm: All levels lesson with Meredith & Guest
8:15 pm: Milonga with DJ Ignacio Ondartz.

When you dance at VivaTango you meet interesting, talented people. The DJ host of the milonga this week is Rainier Pereira. Ray is a prominent tango DJ with an extensive background in Tango music and dance.

Born here in New Jersey, his DJ career began at the age 15 when he moved to Buenos Aires. He studied under legendary tango DJs like Mario Orlando and Horacio Godoy, which shaped his unique DJ style. His international career began in 2017 when he DJed, taught and performed at milongas and festivals across Europe. After moving to the United States in 2020, he quickly became a favorite on the East Coast tango scene, known for his electrifying energy and expert musical selections that keep dancers on the floor all night long.

Ray is also an accomplished Tango dancer beginning with winning a national tango championship and the prestigious “Inter-Milonga” competition. He performed at VivaTango with Helen Wang Oct, 6 2023, and recently was a DJ at the Philly Tango Festival.

So, if you are still reading – please come Thursday and enjoy finding out about the interesting persons who you dance with each week. The all-levels lesson this Thursday will be done by Pablo and Iwona, who have introduced hundreds of dancers to Tango in the Princeton area.
